What Are the Best Ideas for a June Wedding in Ireland?

Summer weddings in Ireland are perfect for embracing romantic florals, outdoor photography, light colour palettes and personal touches that reflect your story as a couple.

From vintage-inspired décor to meaningful family traditions, the most memorable weddings are always the ones that feel authentic to the bride and groom.

This month’s featured weddings include celebrations at stunning Irish venues including Killashee House Hotel, Clonabreany House and Borris House.

Each wedding was completely different, yet every bride shared one common theme — focus on the moments that truly matter.

What Do Real Brides Wish They Knew Before Their Wedding Day?

My Mum & Dad’s June Wedding

First up is my Mum and Dad.  As a little girl, I loved looking through their wedding album, and honestly, nothing has changed! Recently I asked my Mum to choose her favourite wedding photos and hearing her memories was so special.

When I asked if there was anything she would change about the day, her answer was simple — she wished she had taken a photograph with her brother-in-law. The reason they never got one? He was their wedding photographer!

It’s such a lovely reminder that while photographs matter, the people behind them matter even more.

One of my favourite moments was trying on Mum’s wedding dress before she donated it to charity. It became such a treasured memory and a beautiful reminder of how timeless weddings — and wedding dresses — really are.

What Should Brides Prepare for at a June Wedding?

Lisa’s Wedding at Killashee House Hotel

Lisa and Gareth married in June 2011, and Lisa shared some of the most valuable wedding advice for brides-to-be.

Her biggest lesson?

Don’t get caught up in tiny details.

A few days before the wedding, Lisa found herself panicking because the yellow chair ribbons didn’t perfectly match the bridesmaid dresses. But standing at the rehearsal with her future husband quickly reminded her what truly mattered which were the promises they were about to make to each other.

That perspective is something every bride needs to hear.

Another brilliant reminder from Lisa is this: you cannot control the weather.

They chose the 24th of June thinking they were guaranteed sunshine. Instead, it rained all day long. They never got the outdoor photographs they had imagined, but looking back now, it simply didn’t matter.

One practical tip she shared was to test your wedding day journey at the same time and day of the week as your wedding. Their church-to-venue drive should have taken 40 minutes, but with Friday traffic and heavy rain it turned into a much longer journey.

And one thing she would absolutely do differently? Have more food waiting for guests on arrival at the venue!

Her final piece of advice is something every bride should remember: “Slow down, take stolen moments together, relax and enjoy it. It truly is one of the most amazing days of your life.”

How Can I Make My Wedding Day Feel More Personal?

Alison’s Beautifully Personal Wedding at Clonabreany House

Wedding Sign

Alison and her husband married in June 2017 and filled their day with meaningful personal touches that reflected their personalities perfectly.

One detail that stood out immediately was her love of afternoon tea and vintage china cups. This theme flowed beautifully throughout the wedding styling, from floral displays to delicate personalised décor.

Her seating plan was another stunning DIY project. Alison and her Dad created a distressed ladder seating display themselves because she couldn’t find exactly what she envisioned.

Even more meaningful was their choice of table names. As a couple who love travelling, each table was named after somewhere they had visited together, complete with photographs from their adventures.

It’s such a beautiful example of how personalised wedding details can make your day unforgettable for both you and your guests.

What Are Unique Wedding Details Guests Remember?

Ailbhe & Rónán’s Wedding at Borris House

Bride and Groom

Ailbhe and Rónán celebrated their wedding on June 1st 2019, and their day was filled with thoughtful details that guests will never forget.

One of the best pieces of advice Ailbhe shared was to decide early what matters most to you as a couple and focus your budget there.

For them, photography was incredibly important because they wanted their photographs to truly capture the atmosphere and emotion of the day.

Another refreshing insight was their decision not to follow every wedding tradition. Ailbhe chose to wear a wedding band while her husband decided not to, proving there is no “right” way to celebrate your marriage.

Their wedding was also filled with meaningful DIY elements:

  • Handmade bouquets using flowers from family gardens
  • Living plant centrepieces guests could bring home
  • Homemade wines, cider, and blackberry wine created by the groom

Homemade Wine

These deeply personal details transformed their wedding into something truly unforgettable.

Perhaps the most valuable advice she shared was this: “Take quiet moments together throughout the day because it passes in a flash”

Wedding Planning Tips Every June Bride Should Remember

Here are the biggest lessons shared by these real June brides:

  • Don’t stress over tiny details nobody will notice

  • Allow extra travel time between ceremony and venue
  • Personal touches create the most memorable weddings
  • DIY details often become the most meaningful elements
  • Prioritise what matters most to you as a couple

Final Thoughts for June Brides

There’s something incredibly special about June weddings. The warmth of summer, the romance of long evenings, and the joy of celebrating surrounded by family and friends make it such a magical time to get married.

But if these real brides teach us anything, it’s this:

The most beautiful weddings are never about perfection.

They are about meaningful moments, personal touches, laughter, love, and the memories you create together.

So if you are currently planning your June wedding, take a deep breath, enjoy the process, and remember that your guests will remember how your wedding felt far more than whether the ribbon matched the dresses perfectly.
