Congratulations! You must be newly engaged if you are reading this wedding blog post. If you’ve started thinking about how to ask your closest friends to be your bridesmaids, you’ve probably come across the term “bridesmaid proposal.”
Essentially a bridesmaid proposal is the moment you ask someone to be part of your bridal party. This concept has gained popularity in recent years, evolving from just asking your friend to be your bridesmaid to proposing to them with a bridesmaid gift.
Bridesmaid proposals can be as simple or as elaborate as you want and as you start out on your wedding planning journey this is the start of remembering that it is your wedding so do it your way. Don’t feel pressurised into asking your friends with big bridesmaid proposal boxes if this is not you. To be asked to be part of a bridal party is such an honour so whatever way people are asked they will be just thrilled to bits.
Here are some ideas on how to ask your bridesmaid:
Face To Face
The old fashioned way of just asking them straight out over a coffee or on a walk together. This way creates an element of surprise too as you don’t have a big gift tucked under your arm!
Card
Writing the question and a personal message in a bridesmaid proposal card. There is nothing nicer than a hand written note! It makes a lovely keepsake too as I don’t know if you are like me but I keep all the cards that are given to me! You could always include a small gift with the card too. Maybe something like my personalised champagne glasses here
Proposal Box
These are thoughtfully curated boxes or baskets with a card, bridal themed gifts, and most likely a mini bottle of Prosecco. They can usually be personalised too making them even special as we do love a personalised gift. The items in the bridesmaid boxes will be great for photo opportunity and there may be gifts in it that they can use at the hen party or on the wedding party e.g. sashes or personalised champagne glasses which you can find here. Depending how far you are in your wedding planning you might include your wedding colours e.g. if you are going with navy as a colour you could get a navy gift box.

Also, when deciding how you are going to ask them keep in mind your budget and obviously the more bridesmaids you are having the more costly it will be!
