This wedding countdown blog post is “1 Month Before The Wedding” by Saoirse MacGearailt

“A time where the bride grows the greys with the stress of been a few weeks out from getting married” says Saoirse and she is not wrong there.  The last month is the most stressful month of wedding planning!

As Saoirse says you are consistently thinking “what needs to be done, what am I forgetting and re-doing a list over and over”. Organisation and excel become your best friend. Saoirse’s advice, having been a bride one month out to her wedding date, is to do excel sheets months in advance when there is nothing to do. Below is a screenshot of Saoirse’s RSVP tracking spreadsheet.

Patiently waiting for her RSVPs to come back was a stressful time for her so she recommends allowing plenty of time to input names and dietary requirements and to also allow enough time for the dreaded seating plan to be done.

What else was on her never-ending list:

  • Attending her beautician for regular facials and up keep of her skin.
  • Getting the lads measured for their suits (Saoirse would recommend the bride herself to attend also).
  • Her favourite part of the month before the wedding was getting to collect her dress and having her hair trial (and she personally did not opt for the makeup trial)
  • Texting/ emailing all their vendors to touch base to ensure that they were still okay to attend the wedding.
  • With having kids of their own attending our wedding, they decided to make them an activity pack (see below) full of colouring pages and kids games which she loved making. It definitely kept the kids entertained during the meal and speeches.

  • Another job that was on their list was to pick up their wedding favours as they had to leave them as close to their date as possible as they wanted to get little Easter Eggs.

One thing they both looked forward to was meeting their wedding coordinator for their final review, to have the chance to see their venue before the big day and to go through all the little details and to see if they were missing anything.

Something Saoirse would recommend is that, if possible, to take a little holiday/ break for three to four days about 7 weeks out just the two of you to switch of and to turn the phones off to try and relax before hitting the jobs above. See below for a photo of their little break away (just a brilliant idea if you can do it)

Saoirse was so kind as she says “I would also recommend if you are struggling to find any products to contact May she got me out of a stressful situation trying to find pyjamas for the girls with her Wedding SOS.

Her last piece of advice is to do your best to not stress to much  – “it is your wedding day, you will not keep everyone happy (learnt this the hard way), go and enjoy it the way you want it.

Best wishes to all future brides”

Saoirse

I would just like to thank Saoirse for all this information as I know it will greatly help other bride to be’s in their final countdown.

I’ve created a 1 Month To Go Wedding Checklist which you can purchase by clicking here if you are interested.
